INSTRUCTIONS:
NOTE- PermEnamel is a permanent air-dry paint specifically formulated to be used on glass and tile surfaces. It is dishwasher, microwave and oven safe up to 350 degrees once it has cured for a full 10 days. Surface Conditioner is critical in insuring satisfactory results and should be applied liberally with a soft bristle brush or through a spray bottle. The Surface Conditioner will leave a hazy finish on the glass, do not wipe this off. It will dissipate as the project cures. Handle your project with care once the Surface Conditioner has been applied as oils from your skin can interfere with the paint adhering properly. Wear latex gloves, use a paper towel or put your hand inside the mug when working. Surface Conditioner remains active for 4 hours, if your project takes longer simply let the paint dry and reapply the Surface Conditioner. PermEnamel is not compatible with water, wet brush with Surface Conditioner instead of water and then pinch out the excess with a paper towel.
1. Wash vases with warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly.
2. Following package instructions apply the White Frost from the Glass Etching Kit to all the vases.
3. Measure and mask off a 3” border at the top of the largest vase and a 2.5” border on the two smaller vases. Burnish edges to prevent paint from seeping under the edges.
4. Using a make-up sponge apply Ultra Black to the top of the large and small vases and Red Red to the medium vase. Let dry and repeat.
5. Trace and transfer the pattern onto the vases.
6. Base each area as follows with 2-3 smooth even coats of paint using the appropriate sized brush: eyes- Ultra White, pupils and coal for mouth- Ultra Black, nose- Tangerine.
7. Using the 10/0 liner and Ultra Black thinned with Surface Conditioner outline the eyes and nose, add detail lines to the nose.
8. Using the 10/0 liner add two small strokes of Ultra White to the pupils, refer to photo.
9. Center the small vase on a black felt square. Using a chalk pencil draw around the vase. Now enlarge the circle by about 2” to form the hat brim. Cut out the larger circle. Now cut out the center, leaving an extra ½”. Score the inside edge of the circle so it will fit over the vase snuggly and glue in place and let dry.
10. Repeat step 9 for the large vase and finally for the medium vase but using the red felt instead.
11. Add bands on the snowboy and snowman hats using the checked ribbon and a band and bow for the snowlady using the snowflake ribbon.
